In a really nice touch, the villas have been named after regions of Abu
Dhabi: Al Ain, Al Kazna, Delma, Das Island, Jebel Hafeet and Liwa. We
loved this – we felt the names really brought home the way that this
wonderful hotel is deeply connected to Abu Dhabi’s rich culture and
The villas’ kitchens may be the best we have ever seen. They are equipped
with superb Bosch ovens, made from handsome brushed steel, and
wonderfully spacious fridges. In some of the villas, there are butlers’
pantries, where the staff can work unobtrusively. There’s certainly no need
for guests to cook for themselves, as they can send the helpful Shangri-La

the bed. Alternatively, you can swivel it round to watch from the sitting area,
which is stunningly fitted with a cream marble-topped table and a dove-
grey chenille sofa. Textured wallpaper and beautiful voiles only add to the
impression of premium style and sheer class.
The bathrooms of the villas are all differently designed – and they too all
exude pure style. Some have gorgeous free-standing baths made from the
finest porcelain; others are fitted with stunning sunken jacuzzis. The
showers allow guests to choose between a powerful overhead blast or a
smaller shower head with a gentler stream of water. The toiletries are from
luxury brands like Bulgari and L'Occitane, and the wonderfully soft bath
