ON A PERSONAL NOTE In 1999, I was informed by Doctors at Alexander Hospital in Cheshire, UK that my mother had 3 – 4 months to live as she had been diagnosed with Non Hodgkinson Lymphoma, which is cancer of the lymph glands. In 2011, she is happy and healthy and complaining like any mother does that her sons are not eating enough, checking up on us on a daily basis, as if we are still infants, which I guess, through her eyes, my brother and I always will be children. My mother, to this day states that’s her medicine has kept her alive and keeps her alive. ” If you ask her what her medicine is? She always replies; “her love for her children and her husband, my father.” The reason I have included this short story is to hopefully communicate to you all that you should never give up on your love, on your dreams and especially on yourself. As much as it is a renowned cliché, life really is short in terms of the greater picture and we tend to lose value of time until it is too late, Life is not easy for anyone and believe me it tests us all. The most amazing people we have known are those who have known defeat, known suffering, known struggle, known loss, and have found their way out of the depths. These persons have an appreciation, sensitivity, and an understanding of life that fills them with compassion, gentle- ness, and a deep loving concern. Amazing people do not just happen. They become, they evolve. Never give up, stay positive and let love light the way.
