Jaquet Droz will liaise with the buyer several times during the creation process, advising and guiding on the techniques to be used – enamelling, painting or sculpted and engraved ornamentation. Also available to be used in your personal timepiece is the Art of Paillonné Enamelling. This method of enamelling involves covering ornamental tiny motifs or paillettes, cut from gold leaf and known as paillons, with translucent enamel called fondant. For those who want a bespoke piece that is truly evocative of the Jaquet Droz tradition, this would be ideal as during the 18th century the company’s founder transformed this expertise into an art form.
