Natural color tones such as camel, tan, brown and green take centre stage this season, adding in classic greys, navies and blacks to the more tailored items. Highlight colours include blue, mauve, yellow, orange and burgundy to bring an autumnal gem-box feel. Herrera’s characteristic red finds it way in to detail work – the tips and underside of perfect leather gloves and beautifully buffed boots. Flannel, corduroy, tweed, houndstooth, Welsh check and herringbone can be found on elbow patches, bordering and in details that accentuate the deep understanding of fabric and tailoring. Tartan has been a big theme for this season across men’s and women’s collections. Herrera’s brown and blue broad checked coat makes a suave statement. The outerwear collection, with diamond padding, wool-look quilted anoraks and classic, impeccably cut coats, is perfect for a sophisticated gentleman. Knitwear connects the singles, provided in merino, lambswool and cashmere cotton. Not without a sense of fun, Herrera has introduced a camouflage, pony skin (fabric du jour) ankle boot to keep us on our well-heeled toes.
