2 6 8 S I M P LY A B U DH A B I Jasim, working with crystals came naturally as he has always been fascinated by the glimmering appeal of gemstones, and as whilst growing up he dreamt of becoming a jeweller often would assist a local jewellery maker after school. Ima is also a natural when it comes to using various media. She grew up cultivating a diverse range of artistic endeavours, from doll making and painting through to playing the piano and experimenting with non- conventional painting techniques and mosaics. Their finishing works come to life with rays of light, which reveal the delicate work and detailing invested in each piece. Working together they exhibit regularly and also take commissions. As Ima explains, “The key to our success in working on commission is our ability to be flexible and to communicate with whomever hires us. We know that a commission relationship only succeeds when we respond effectively to the other party's concerns, requests, and needs, we do like to work well with people and we enjoy every part of it.” Jasim concurs and further concludes, ”The all process starts when we meet with the clients to discuss the project. We make sure that they see a representative selection of our artworks to better understand the style of our work. Some clients would like to commission a work of art, some want an exact duplicate of a particular piece – we always try to meet the request and to produce a very specific composition to satisfy our clients and their concept within a unique IMAjAZ style.”
