The Performing Arts Centre in the cultural district will be a chance to bring people together to celebrate creative expression through performance. Designed by the distinguished Raaqui/British architect Zaha Hadid, the inspiration for the building was drawn from references to natural shapes such as leaves, branches, buds and fruits. Continuing this theme of organisational forms within organic structures, the interior spaces have been created to make the most of natural energies – large windows maximise the advantages of natural daylight whilst the orientation of space has been cleverly constructed to enhance acoustic range. Within this beautifully created centre, a music hall, concert hall, opera house, drama theatre, experimental performance space and an Academy of Performance Arts will provide a fantastic platform for performance art. Contemporary and classical music, ballet, opera, movement theatre, dramatic and experimental performance will all be on display. In keeping with the Cultural District’s philosophy throughout all mediums, the centre will become a vivid hub of theatre celebrating all forms of artistic performance, music and dance and featuring top artists from both the region and around the world.
