Who’d have thought that in the Yas Hotel on Yas Island you can get a beautiful taste of Italy? Amici, a leading Italian restaurant in Abu Dhabi has quickly become renowned for unpretentious authentic fare served in a fashionable venue that positively encourages you to take time over your meal and savour the rustic flavours of your dish of choice. The menu tantalises with a wide choice of freshly made pasta, classic antipasti and crusty ciabatta, all enhanced by olive oils sourced directly from the Mediterranean. Amici’s Maitre’d is delighted to offer his menu recommendations based on his profusion of gastronomic awareness and you can’t fail to be enthused by his passion as you place your order. A buffet style choice of starters whets the appetite for the main meal and with such a filling, satisfying menu of mains to choose from you’re sure to want to return for more. Amici offers real value for money with all the traditional Italian favourites being offered amongst other exciting new dishes so you can tuck intothe traditional offerings of the antipasti buffet, or do as I did and order a mouth-watering made-to-order pizza with all your favourite toppings brought straight to your table from the wood-fired oven. Jordana was also impressed with her tasty starter of bean and pasta soup. She then opted for the tiger prawns which she reported were super succulent. Large chunks of parmesan feature widely on the menu and are truly divine. On a warm evening it is suggested that you book a table on the veranda, but wherever you choose to dine, it’s a gastronomic experience to feed all the senses. Italians are said to be the masters of romance. Well in Amici, the chefs are certainly the masters of their extensive menu and after our filling and satisfying mains we stayed on for an evening spent enjoying beautiful desserts followed by double espressos.
