As the Saadiyat Island development was underway, it became obvious that this was going to be a
destination like no other, a truly special place destined to become a first choice amongst locals, business
travellers and discerning holidaymakers alike. Located just seven minutes from downtown Abu
Dhabi, with the International Airport in close proximity just 20 minutes away, this stunning natural
island makes unrivalled levels of luxury easily accessible to all visitors. In another thrilling chapter
of this exciting development story, the iconic and highly regarded St Regis brand is introducing its
elegant style and truly luxurious hospitality to Abu Dhabi.
Having been in the incredibly fortunate position of having a sneak preview as the development of Saadiyat Island was
underway, we were already extremely excited by the prospect of the St Regis Hotel opening its opulent doors on the
resort, so there was no stopping us once the opportunity to see if for ourselves arose. John Pelling, the General Manager
of the St Regis Hotel was clearly hugely excited about the prospect of introducing the St Regis brand to Abu Dhabi.
Ahead of the highly anticipated opening of this prestigious TDIC project, he spoke of the desire to continue in the
brand’s long upheld tradition of setting new benchmarks in terms of luxury. With a strong heritage dating back to the
opening of the first St Regis Hotel in New York in 1904, launching the brand into the region is testament to the massive
success of all the other business ventures. Ahead of the opening John Pelling spoke of how the Resort had carefully
recruited a strong new team of 700 all briefed and trained with meticulous attention to detail so to be ready to meet and
exceed guests’ expectations. By fine tuning the skills of all the staff, the new St Regis Hotel aims to reflect the renowned
values and traditions of the brand that have been so firmly steeped in history.
