T he pleasure of travel is something very special, but it is often bookended by the inconveniences of actually getting to our favourite destinations. Nobody likes long airport queues and the extensive security measures that need to be observed. When it was time to leave for the Seychelles I was picked up by private car in Dubai and taken to Abu Dhabi Airport. Here I was escorted through security and within no time relaxing in the sumptuous surroundings of a lounge in the Royal Jet Private Terminal along with 24 VIPs who were also invited on this showcase trip. Once on board the Boeing Business Jet I sat next to a senior journalist from Abu Dhabi’s premier newspaper the National and we were treated to fresh fruit juices, coconut water and canapés and given Salvatore Ferragamo toiletry packs. Once up in the air, Daniel, our personal Chef, prepared a perfectly timed meal starting with wild mushroom soup and a fresh seafood platter with assorted antipasti. The main course was equally delightful and from the range of choices I opted for salmon in Iranian saffron sauce with steamed white rice and an assortment of grilled vegetables.
