Everything about Danish audio company Libratone appeals, from the charming logo to the kaleidoscope of colours used for their high-end speakers. In just three years since their launch, Libratone have grown into a stylish brand with sales outlets worldwide. Their mission is clear: “To change the image of the sound system in your living room and empower you to reclaim your home. We aim to make technology accessible – to give it a more human face. We want to create a sound source that will be a positive addition to the room.” A pretty noble goal then – Libratone want to improve how we listen to music, and also improve how speakers actually fit in to our homes, dispensing with the old modes of black boxes pushed into the corner of rooms in favour of sophisticated minimalist design. In the company’s own words, “We design to improve homes. Not to be a necessary evil. We design to stand out, but not like a sore thumb. We design to blur the lines between furniture and sound systems by applying the aesthetics of the Scandinavian heritage to our design thinking.” Libratone was founded by Tommy Andersen, Jes Mosgaard and Søren Louis Pedersen, all passionate audiophiles driven by the dream to set music free, adding a new dimension to our electronically stored music collections on devices such as iPhone, iPod and iPads.
