Autumn-Winter 2013 is also trumpeting silk as the material of the moment – suits all shot through with silk and worked with cashmere onto beaver cloths in technical innovation that only a textile mill would truly understand. It’s unusual but refreshing in a fast-paced world of fashion and change for change’s sake. The cut of the suits is longer; waistbands are higher and matched with cummerbunds to give the appearance of a vastly elongated trunk. Interest is added in stylised patterns, broad pin stripes and – bizarrely – two-tone trouser legs. They were paired with beautifully draped complementary knits in geometric patterns and fencing-style padded vests. Overcoats are strong, full shapes in Zegna’s signature
