Simply Abu Dhabi XI

2 0 8 S I M P LY A B U DH A B I Zegna has employed a moody and intense colour palette of tobacco browns, taking in sienna, ash grey, ebony, navy, flashes of Clementine orange and cadmium red. It’s muted, but it’s sophisticated and practically ready-to-wear from the runway. Classic Italian style is what the Zegna house has become known for. The luxury brand was founded in 1910 and gained a reputation for fine quality wool fabric for suits, milling and harvesting its own products before cutting them into exquisite suits. Today it is managed by the fourth generation of the family, producing suits not only under its own banner but also for eminent labels such as Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent and Tom Ford. As a traditional company, it also manages its supply chain and is one of the biggest global producers of fine fabrics with a breathtaking outtake of 2.3 million metres per year. As a result, it’s active in promoting improvements in wool production globally. Watch for the new direction of creative director Stefano Pilati who took the reins for Spring-Summer 2014. Joining from Yves Saint Laurent, he is a trusted Italian designer and looks set to shake things up a bit.
