Simply Abu Dhabi XI

to detail that makes the Rosewood Abu Dhabi simply impeccable. The multicultural atmosphere feels very exotic and we were looking forward to chatting with the ‘internal guests’ during our stay. With no fewer than nine different restaurants, we would certainly have plenty of opportunity to talk to our waiters. Under the expertise of Executive Chef Wolfgang Eberle, Rosewood Abu Dhabi offers Spanish cuisine from Barcelona and the north-eastern region of Spain, modern Lebanese cooking, Italian and Mediterranean delights and contemporary Pan-Indian fare, to name just a few. Despite the rather grand scale of the Rosewood – it has 189 rooms and suites, 58 serviced residences, 73 residences and four penthouses – the ambiance is less like a chain hotel and is more in the vein of a suave boutique property, especially with so much modern regional artwork on display. When we entered our executive suite we both felt that ‘wow’ sensation when you are just taken aback. First of all, you are drawn to the tastefully curated design scheme and the gigantic bed, and then you are hit with the view. Huge floor-to-ceiling windows display the glistening Arabian Gulf – a jaw-dropping sight when seen from this 34-storey landmark hotel. It’s just so close, you feel like you could almost dive in. Next it was time for what is, quite frankly, obligatory when you first get into a distinctly luxurious and sophisticated hotel room – fling yourself onto the bed with joyful abandon. The huge bed was dressed with the softest Pratesi Egyptian cotton and was perfect for reclining on and soaking up the great expanse outside. All the traditional accessories are available, but in another modern twist, the Rosewood provides an iPad with which to operate the room navigation system. It took me a short while to get to grips with the controls, but soon enough I could operate the entertainment systems, including the media centre and the huge 55-inch flat-screen TV. 2 9 S I M P LY A B U DH A B I
