1 0 7 S I M P LY A B U DH A B I T he Swiss luxury watch manufacturer IWC Schaffhausen wowed both racing and wristwatch fans in the capital recently when CEO of the brand Georges Kern unveiled the Mercedes AMG Petronas Simulator alongside a pop-up exhibition of IWC watches in the Great Room of the new Galleria Mall on Al Maryah. To commemorate its official partnership with the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One™ Team in style, the simulator was launched by Kern and F1 legend Nico Rosberg – a friend of the IWC brand. Speaking of the occasion, Kern said: “Both IWC Schaffhausen andMercedes AMG Petronas share similar values and passions: those of engineering, performance, precision and technology. By getting the simulator and exhibition to The Galleria, we want to pay a fitting tribute to our partnership.” The simulator was the perfect addition to this wonderful new mall, especially considering it coincided with the spectacular Abu Dhabi F1 event. Nico Rosberg commented about his partnership with IWC saying, “We are truly pleased to have partnered with a brand that echoes our values and commitment so deeply. I just had a go at the simulator and I have to say that it is a must try and offers a thrilling glimpse into the adrenaline rush that we drivers experience during a race.” The exhibition not only launched the simulator but also the newly released IWC Ingenieur collection, a stunning new range that clearly reveals how IWC’s designers and engineers took inspiration fromFormula One racing. Materials typically used in motorsport, such as titanium, carbon fibre and ceramic, are the hallmarks of a new design line in the Ingenieur watch family. The technologically demanding workmanship confirms the stellar reputation of IWC Schaffhausen as a company that has been manufacturing high-quality watches for more than 140 years.
