Jaeger-LeCoultre hosted the opening night of the seventh Abu Dhabi Film Festival and in doing so gave acclaimed US actor Forest Whitaker a Black Pearl Career Achievement award. Whitaker has won 23 major acting awards, including the Academy, Screen Actor’s Guild and BAFTA awards for his performance as Ugandan dictator Idi Amin in ‘The Last King of Scotland’. He has starred in iconic films like ‘The Crying Game’ as well as turning his hand to producing with ‘Fruitvale Station’ and directing films such as ‘Hope Floats’ and ‘Waiting To Exhale’. Whitaker walked the Red Carpet with Jaeger- LeCoultre CEO, Daniel Riedo and International Communications Director, Laurent Vinay and later received the Lifetime Achievement Award from Festival Director Ali Al-Jabri, which was presented by Daniel Riedo. In parallel to Jaeger-LeCoultre’s sponsorship of the Abu Dhabi Film Festival, the brand held a watchmaking event in Avenue at Etihad Towers, the first standalone luxury shopping destination in Abu Dhabi. This offered clients a glimpse into the know-how of a Manufacture synonymous with craftsmanship, tradition and invention.
