Inspired by Christian Dior’s taste for grand balls, the patented openwork oscillating weight, embroidered with diamonds and placed on top of the dial of all the Dior VIII Grand Bal “Résille” models, evokes the swirl of a glamorous ball gown. This Dior VIII collection completes the ‘day’, ‘cocktail’ and ‘evening’ wardrobe categories of the house. At the heart of this line ticks the ‘Dior inverse’ calibre, which places the functional oscillating weight of the automatic movement on top of the dial. The models in the ‘evening’ wardrobe, called Grand Bal, continue the ball metaphor that is so valued and important to Monsieur Dior. A new ‘Dior Inversé 8 ¼’ calibre has been developed in response to the need for a 33mm model whose oscillating weight is sometimes a mesh of diamonds or sometimes a petticoat of pink or violet feathers festooned with white mother-of- pearl and diamonds. The oscillating weight of the Dior Grand Bal "Résille" is a mesh of diamonds that is sure to appeal to any lady who knows her jewels. The 33mm case is constructed of white high-tech ceramic and stainless steel. It bears a bezel set with yet more diamonds and is decorated with a white mother-of- pearl ring, and an antireflective sapphire crystal glass. The crown is set with a white ceramic insert and the case-back is an opalescent sapphire crystal. The automatic ‘Dior Inversé 8 ¼’ calibre offers 38 hours of power reserve. The bracelet in white high-tech ceramic unfolds pyramid-shaped links with an unfolding clasp made of steel. A lavish 211 diamonds shine on the watch and make this an all round enticing treasure for many a lucky lady. But that’s not all from Dior VIII to draw the lady’s eyes. There’s also a new variation in the day wardrobe collection with the 33mm automatic model Dior VIII Pink, Gold and Ceramic in diamond-set pink gold. The bezel, dial, case-back, crown and clasp are embellished with gold, which is set off perfectly against either white or black ceramic.
