T he 60s are one of the most notorious decades, they have an enduring fascination that doesn’t seem to ever get diluted or fade. Piaget are wise to this and, considering thier watches and jewels adorned the hottest stars of the era, they do well to embrace such a brand history. The new Limelight Gala collection looks firmly to the 60s and the inspiration of the designers is clearly evident in the aesthetic of the sensual curves. This newwatch has a distinctive character that is imbued with a sense of glamorous chic. Piaget expect this to be an icon, and you can see why. It’s eye-catching, vibrant and voluptuous, with a finishing that seals its sophistication. The overall appearance is accentuated by a bezel that is set with a row of progressively sized brilliant-cut diamonds. Somehow the dial manages to be understated in the company of the circle of diamonds, but it still radiates a stylish sense of femininity, with black Roman numerals matching the refined satin strap. Piaget are acclaimed around the world and through the decades for their superlative jewellery and watches, and the Limelight Gala is a fine continuation. The creation of the Limelight Gala collection is entirely conducted within the Piaget Manufacture. One hundred per cent in-house, the birth of the watch started with initial sketches and progressed to the design through to the shaping and finishing of the case. Only a fully integratedManufacture is capable of handling such a journey in-house. The Limelight Gala lives up to the Piaget motto, ‘Always Better Than Necessary’. It does justice to a fine heritage from the wild years of the 60s, yet manages to be an authentic contemporary signature embodying elegant femininity. 1 3 5 S I M P LY A B U DH A B I
