The humble bracelet went stellar this year, having a fashion moment on celebrity wrists around the world. Like the friendship bracelets of yester year, the Italian cashmere, wool and lace-making house produced a simple woven, macramé bracelet that the rich and famous have taken to with astounding vigour. They popped up on the delicate arms of trendsetters everywhere, from Rita Ora to Bar Rafaeli and Heidi Klum. When Beyoncé instagrammed a photo of herself with a wrist full, the trend was cemented. They’re philanthropic too, with a proportion of sales being donated to worthy causes. A posh version of the rubber bands are used by charities around the world. But there’s more to Cruciani than lace bracelets. The clothing line is sublime too, especially for ladies who like to feel styled but comfortable. In 1970s America women were becoming more self-aware. After the bra-burning emancipation of the sixties, women of the subsequent decade were able to explore their identities more freely and frequently expressed themselves through fashion and behaviour. Cruciani’s Autumn-Winter collection draws inspiration from the freedom of movement and expression of the era: fluid lines, organic shapes, dynamic textures and earthy, rich tones. It’s a natural yet elegant look.
