W hen you hear the name ‘Bentley’ what do you think of? Chauffeurs? Luxury leather seats? The rumbling roar of a high-powered engine? Probably not leather handbags but that, dear reader, is just a matter of time. Bentley Motors has launched a unique, high luxury range of handbags, opening, in the company’s words, a new chapter in the Bentley for female customers and enthusiasts. Have you ever yearned for a bag to match your ride? Cometh the day. Like the cars, the handbags are elegant and sculptural. They boast clean lines and beautiful finishes. They’re engineered for ultimate functionality and practicality. There are two distinct models: the Barnato and The Continental. Barnato is named after Diana Barnato, an experienced Bentley driver and accomplished aviatrix. She was the first British woman to break the sound barrier. And she was at the same time a socialite, daughter of Woolf Barnato, one of the original ‘Bentley Boys’ and chairman of the company. She encapsulated daring and glamour. You might recognise the ‘Continental’ namesake as the sister of the car model. The bags are a collaboration with celebrated luxury leather bag designer and craftsman Vincent du Sartel. Together with the head of Product Design, Daniele Ceccomori, he has drawn out the key features of the cars in a feminine form. 1 8 9 S I M P LY A B U DH A B I
