3 3 3 S I M P LY A B U DH A B I The Mulsanne on which the Shaheen is based has achieved strong sales year to date in the Middle East, with an increase of 53 per cent compared to the same period last year. What’s more, The Middle East has performed impressively across all of Bentley’s model lines, including the new Flying Spur, Continental GT and Mulsanne - with an overall increase in sales of 25 per cent for 2013. Globally, BentleyMotors has built on its hugely successful performance for the first half of 2013, after announcing that global customer deliveries to the end of September have grown by an impressive nine per cent, compared to 2012. Geoff Dowding told us, “Strong performance from our W12 models continued, with the Continental GT Speed and Continental GT Speed Convertible proving successful in all territories. This, added to increases in our V8 andMulsanne models, maintains our impressive performance and strongly reinforces our position as market leader among our direct competitors in the luxury car market.” When the Mulsanne Shaheen made its debut at the Dubai Motor Show, alongside was the recently launched and all-new Bentley Flying Spur, which we’ve covered in this edition of Simply Cars. It’s worth mentioning again though that the car is powered by Bentley’s renowned 6.0-litre, twin turbo W12 engine developing an astonishing 625 PS, and sprinting from 0-100km/h in just 4.6 seconds. This new Bentley model, with its unrivalled blend of effortless drivability, exquisite luxury and traditional craftsmanship, coupled with up-to-the-minute sculpted design and state-of-the-art technology, will doubtlessly build on the worldwide success of its iconic predecessor here in The Middle East. Also joining the Mulsanne Shaheen and new Flying Spur in the Bentley collection are the latest additions to the GT range, the Bentley Continental GT Speed and the Continental GT Speed Convertible, which is the fastest four-seat convertible in the world and was just awarded “Luxury Convertible Of The Year’ at the recent Middle East Motoring Awards ceremony in Dubai. With the weather in the Middle East cooling to more pleasant levels, it is probably the perfect time of year for exhilarating, roof-down driving so perhaps it’s also time to get behind the wheel of that world-beating convertible. Whichever of these mighty Bentley models you choose to own, you can rest assured that you’ve chosen the very best the world has to offer. With the Mulsanne Shaheen though, you’re also choosing a car that’s unique to The Middle East. Surely that makes it better still.
