veneer choices. The seats and door panels are diamond quilted, and the headrests get embroidered Bentley wing logos. Aluminumpedals, a sports gear lever, a unique fuel filler cap, and two-piece 21-inch aluminum wheels round out the Mulliner details. Up front, Bentley has improved things for the driver too. The Flying Spur’s 6.0- litre, twin-turbocharged W-12 engine now produces 616 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. That’s 16 horsepower and 37 more lb-ft of torque than last year’s high- output Continental Flying Spur Speed model and the same overall power as the latest-generation Continental GT Speed and GTC Speed models. Like the Continental, the Flying Spur’s W-12 now mates up to a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission. According to Bentley, this combination gives the Flying Spur a 0–60 time of 4.3 seconds and a 200-mph top speed. Startling figures for a car of this size. Putting all of this power on to the road is all-wheel drive as standard. With a baseline 40/60 front-rear torque split the system can also push as much as 85 percent of the engine’s torque rearward or 65 percent to the front for optimum handling in any situation. Making the most of the Flying Spur’s added emphasis on passenger comfort, Bentley has softened the car’s air suspension by 10 percent in front and 13 to the rear and decreased the anti-roll bars’ stiffness front and rear by 13 and 15 percent, respectively. This adds up to supreme comfort, while the suspension automatically firms up during cornering and spirited driving to keep the more enthusiastic driver happy too. As a whole, this all-new Flying Spur continues Bentley’s tradition of all-round excellence. So whether you’re sitting behind the wheel or relaxing in the rear, you’ll soon be flying high. 3 3 9 S I M P LY A B U DH A B I
