The atmosphere at the end of a weekend of high-octane racing was electric. Camera bulbs were popping, so were corks. Enormous bottles of drink were being paraded with metronomic regularity around private tables putting even the UAE’s usual high-end bars to shame. Slender models looking statuesque on impossibly high heels and dressed in glamorous haute couture cocktail dresses strut around gracefully. Tanned, healthy looking gentlemen from all over the globe order supplies for their tables and greet friends. Waitresses in highly starched, long aprons buzz around, wafting trays loaded with iced drinks and snacks around the crowd. Famous faces mingle in the crowd or lounge on designer furniture in the dimly lit club, enveloped in the pumping beats of a party getting warmed up. The ambience is one of celebration and high spirits after a spine-tingling weekend of racing and rubbing shoulders with influential people from all walks of life. One of the best things about the Formula One is the way it brings the whole of the city together, riding a wave of good spirits and sporting enthusiasm. It comes to its height at the closing Amber Lounge party each year. The F ine s t F 1 Part y in Abu Dhabi
