For the creation of the distinctive Richard Mille tonneau formed case, with its ergonomically-sculpted curves and dramatic arcs, many hours of preparation are required even before the actual milling procedures can begin. The tripartite case entails some eighty-six preliminary stamping and striking operations to ready the case parts for cutting and milling. The actual machining process is preceded by some fifty hours of machine setup and programming before all systems are go for the hundreds of individual operations that need to be executed. State-of-the-art machines working with an accuracy of within a few microns are a necessity for the creation of the multiple curves and arcs established in Richard Mille’s case design and general aesthetic. The movement at the heart of the RM11-02 is attached to the case with four silicon braces providing additional shock resistance and sealed with twenty spline screws and nitrite seals to ensure the water resistance of theRM11-02iscomfortablyto50metres. 1 2 3 S I M P LY A B U DH A B I
