A fter the astonishing success of the limited RM 038 Golfer’s Tourbillon released in 2011, RichardMille has once againundertaken the development of yet another exclusive tourbillon watch for the American professional golfer, Bubba Watson, with added functionality to complement his powerful drives and bubbling personality on the golf course. Bubba Watson, who has been associated with Richard Mille since 2010, stands out from the crowd with his unique physique and self-taught skills in golf. He epitomises the high performance and precision of human form as an instrument for sports. Just 35 years old, he is already leaving his mark as one of the best players of his generation, having won his second Masters title in three years in 2014. With one of the most powerful drives in the game, he has consistently been the longest hitter on the PGA tour since 2006. The fundamental aim was to create a striking, supremely engineeredmasterpiece that effectively combines the style and exquisitely crafted quality of a RichardMille timepiece with the effervescent personality and keen requirements of one of theworld’s most recognisable professional golfers. The result is the RM 38-01 Bubba Watson, a timepiece that combines a patented G- sensor with a tourbillon mechanism, thus providing new insights for golfers during their game. The mechanical G-sensor, a world-first from Richard Mille, contains more than 50 moving parts within a mere 17 mm, and allows the user to see the accumulated motion of their swing in Gs. The sensor, placed under 12 o’clock, is able to record the force generated by thewearer’s swing, specifically during the last segment. In reality this means that the RM38-01 can record up to 20-Gs of acceleration - a very important insight for golfers such as Bubba Watson, renowned for his ability to hit a ball atmore than 310 kmper hour.
