T he legendary Swiss luxury watchmakers, Breguet , have introduced the revamped Reine de Naples jewellery collection, in tribute to Caroline Murat, who occupied the throne of Naples until 1815. Celebrated for her style and refinement, the queen was one of the many historical figures among Breguet’s patrons. The queen of Naples put her mark on history by redecorating the Palazzo Reale and promoting French artistic styles in the Naples region. Breguet holds the honour of producing the first wristwatch ever created for a queen, a dazzling bracelet-style watch ordered by queen Caroline from Abraham-Louis Breguet in 1810 and delivered in 1812 in tribute to her beauty. Recently, the manufacture paid homage to this historic timepiece with the gem-encrusted Reine de Naples Jour model. Set with 131 baguette diamonds, the watch is a stunning testament to the jewellery skills of Breguet’s artists and a continuation of the brand’s quest to celebrate the regal refinement of women. The Mini Reine de Naples collection accompanying it further perpetuates the ode to the queen’s beauty symbolised by the first watch. The collection features the breathtaking ‘Les Volants de le Reine’ – The Jewels of the Queen – in the form of a ring and earrings of exquisite femininity. Fluid, dynamic, and unmistakeably graceful, this set comprises pieces of undulating fields of diamonds, into which is set a breathtaking sapphire. The ring is evocative of a flower, its delicate petals unfurling to reveal the precious gem nestled within, while the matching earrings call to mind the amazing spectacle of a butterfly upon the air, its delicate wings curved in flight. The fluidity and movement captured in these pieces are an astonishing testament to the craftsmanship and spellbinding mastery of Breguet’s artists. Mini Reine de Naples pendants are also available in five versions, each featuring a particular emerald-cut stone: aquamarine, morganite, garnet, amethyst and peridot. Special attention was given to setting the stones to show off the soft gleam of their colours.
