The legendary career of David Morris began in 1951 when, as a young man, he mastered the craft of diamond mounting by apprenticing a leading jeweller. After attending London’s Central School of Arts and Crafts, he qualified as a goldsmith in 1959. Establishing his own jewellery firm in 1962, DavidMorris became internationally known a year later as he and his design partner claimed the 9th and 10thDe Beers Diamonds International Awards, bestowed annually in New York to promote innovative design. Today, successor; Mr Jeremy Morris has since followed in his father’s phenomenal footsteps and is now Managing Director and principal designer of David Morris. In 2014 DavidMorris celebrates a decade of the Rose-Cut collection. Inspired by the wedding band that JeremyMorris designed for his wife Erin, the couple tell the story that surrounds the creation of this iconic collection 10 years on “On our wedding day, I wanted to give Erin something truly unique and special for her wedding band, something no-one else would have so that she would know I had designed it especially for her. Rose-cut diamonds were popular in the Victorian era. They are named for their resemblance to the petals of a rose bud. The beauty is in its many facets, giving it a delicate, romantic and almost translucent feel. I was sure they would be perfect for Erin’s wedding band as I could combine her love of antique and old-cut stones with my love of unique and contemporary designs in an eternity band.” “Little did I know howmuch people would love the design! This had not been in my original plan, but Erin received so many compliments that together we conceived a collection to go with the ring that meant so much to us both. This has now expanded to include four sizes of hoop earrings, bangles, bracelets and a choker necklace, amongst other more important rose-cut diamond pieces. It is now also available in rose gold with pink micro-set diamonds and yellow gold with yellowmicro-set diamonds and is a best-seller in all our stores around the world.
