2 6 1 S I M P LY A B U DH A B I N estled away in the Madinat Jumeirah Resort of Dubai lies the serene haven of Dar Al Masyaf, an enclave of 29 luxurious summer houses hidden among captivating waterways. Authentically Arabian, and thoroughly enchanting, Dar Al Masyaf is a true oasis of serenity. Jordana and I had the good fortune to enjoy an utterly relaxing stay at Dar Al Masyaf, and can attest to it being a hidden treasure – and the ultimate personalised luxury experience. Dar Al Masyaf is a breathtaking property located at Madinat Jumeirah, the Dubai resort renowned for its authentic recreation of ancient Arabia amidst a setting of breathtaking natural beauty. Now proudly celebrating its 10th anniversary, Madinat Jumeirah comprises two boutique hotels, Al Qasr and Mina A’ Salam, and the ultra-luxurious Malakiya Villas, in addition to the Dar Al Masyaf summer houses. Known as ‘The Arabian Resort of Dubai’, Madinat features two kilometres of pristine, private beachfront along which lies a spectacular array of architectural and natural wonders, as well as the world-class dining, spa services and amenities you’d expect from a Jumeirah property. Upon our arrival, what struck us immediately was the sense of peace and serenity. Despite the scope of the Madinat Jumeirah, the appeal of its architecture, and the host of activities available, the overall impression is one of calm, still beauty. The power of the natural surroundings to envelop the senses and instantly relax the mind is extraordinary. We knew at once we’d come to the right place. A friendly and attentive greeting from the peerless staff of Dar Al Masyaf made us feel welcome, and soon we were en route to our Summer House, one of 29 on the property. The journey alone to our accommodations was worth the trip. The houses are accessible along a series of scenic waterways and winding paths through lush gardens – you’re instantly literally whisked away into a paradise that feels far from the fast-paced world. The Arabian Deluxe house we soon settled in to was very much in keeping with the serene, relaxed feeling we’d had since arriving. The soft-white walls, sea-blue linens and cushions, and tiled floors created a soothing, cool atmosphere, while subtle Arabic design touches in the décor, carpets and wood furniture added to the effect. Fresh flowers and a gorgeous array of fruit completed our welcome. The aesthetic is serenely calming rather than richly opulent, but the quality of service was just as absolutely impeccable as at the other Madinat Jumeirah properties. The Summer Houses offer personalised butler service to guests, ensuring that every wish or need is accommodated. Although you are enjoying your own private haven of tranquillity, all modern conveniences are immediately at your disposal and you lack for nothing. It is truly the best of both worlds.
