2 1 2 S I M P LY A B U DH A B I Chanel Beauty and Skincare Autumn 2014 By SophieMcMullan O nce again, we find ourselves delighted by the autumnal collections from Chanel. The beautiful French fashion and cosmetics house has managed to excite and entice us with their colour and skincare releases. To add some warmth and vibrancy to our makeup stash, Collection États Poétiques is full of wonderment and indulgence. With Gabrielle Chanel being the inspiration behind everything Chanel creates, again we see her passion for poetry coming through in this collection. As with poetry in verse, beauty has poetry in both its tender colours and its invisible perfection. I notice that this collection is perhaps one of Chanel’s most daring and vivid spectrums of shades, especially for the cooler months, and I’m pleasantly surprised, as ever, by their spirit for makeup. As you’ll see from the vast range of single eye shadows here, and the differing shades of pink, everyone is catered for. From light, shimmery pinks through to deep purple and blackcurrant, they can be worn alone for an intense compliment or mixed up together for a striking finish. I love that they’re playing more with dark pinks and reds, my personal favourites; although initially perhaps daunting, a deep red in the right shade looks fantastic against all eye colours. That said, an unusual punch of yellowwith Admiration (114) is also hugely flattering, especially when applied as a highlight – the tear duct area is best for this. Simultaneously, it will cover up any darkness, thus acting like a concealer too! If you’re unsure which to choose, you could always opt for the ever- covetable Les 4 Ombres Poésie (234) – I bet once you lock eyes on it, you won’t be able to look away. Feed your makeup addiction and treat yourself to this classic quad of incredible nudes and darks for your eyes.
