2 1 8 S I M P LY A B U DH A B I B efore I even start this review, I think it’s only fair to admit that I may be a little biased. You see, Jaguar cars played a very important part in my early years. My father had various models, from XK 120s and 150s, through S-types and Mk 10s to the simply matchless E-Type. My mother drove Mk 11s for several years and one of my fondest childhoodmemories was my father picking me up from school in a primrose yellowV12 E-Type Coupe and taking me for a 100mph plus trip along the motorway. Exciting times for a boy in love with cars and a definite start on the road to a Jaguar obsession. It’s with these memories firmly in mind that I first approached the stunning new F-Type convertible. Of course, I shall try to remove my rose-tinted spectacles for long enough to give you an objective view of this car but believe me, it’s going to be difficult. It’s impossible to talk about the new F-Type without first mentioning its simply breathtaking looks. At last there’s a Jaguar sports car that really deserves to stand alongside its spiritual predecessor, the legendary E- Type. Sure, there’s been the XJS and XK8 and sure, they were capable and stylish machines, but in terms of looks and sheer presence, they never really matched up to that 60s icon. Here, however, Jaguar have raised their game and created another future classic. TopCat
