M M I S S ON I MMissoni Autumn/Winter 2014/2015 Collection T he newAutumn/Winter 2014/15M Missoni collection adds a fine flair to a free and easyminimalismfor the season. There’s an immediate sense of relaxation about the clothing, whilst at the same time the collectionmakes a lavishly elegant statement thanks to the interesting cuts and constructions, the unusual redefinition of shapes,Missoni’s amazing use ofmaterials, and the exploration of a total impact universe of colour. It’s a new agenda, and it all starts with the silhouette. At once soft and studied, it starts out snug on top then extends outward from there down. Basic shapes such as rectangles and triangles harmonise to create fluid structures: take, for example, the long, swingy, upside-down tulip skirts with a lovely asymmetric feel and lots of draping – one of this season’s favourite techniques. Elsewhere, trousers in a chic and fashion-forward drape key into the trend. The tops take a dual approach to this relaxed and fluid look by pairing a close-fitting inner layer with a free- floating outer one. The precision-perfect cocoon coat – almost a maxi-cardigan – is the very picture of utter ease and absolute style.
