It’s only fitting, then, to serve it in the most original and refined tableware available. That’s where Ruediger Benedikt Home Design comes in. The creative imagination behind this remarkable collection of serving dishes and bowls – or presentoirs, as they are known – is the talented artist Ruediger Benedikt. Originally from Germany, Benedikt has trained and worked in England and the US, and is now based in Barcelona, Spain. After spending years doing high-end interior design for clients, Benedikt had his Eureka moment when he was leading extensive design work in a huge home. The clients had asked for unique, made-to-measure items for their housewarming party, and unable to find unique champagne coolers or caviar presentoirs, he was inspired to create his own. As Benedikt explains it, he focused on table-top design when he became fascinated with how each culture experiences and presents food in its own way. More than just sustenance, sharing food creates an atmosphere, a ceremony of presentation. A truly luxurious table elevates not only the food, but the surroundings and the communal experience of all who share it.
