Founded in 1967 by Pino Rabolini, the heir to a goldsmithing empire, the brand grew to be one of Italy’s leading jewellers, known worldwide for its dedication to research and anti-conformist attitude. Rabolini introduced the philosophy of prêt-à-porter to the world of jewellery, an insight that gave the brand its strong, distinctive identity, which still remains prevalent today. The company went on to make a name for itself in Italy, before beginning an extensive global expansion that saw it take on the biggest international players and become the fifth-largest jewellery company in the whole of Europe. The company attributes its incredible success to the unique personality and unmistakeable style of its brand, clear in its impeccable artisanal manufacture and combination of stones, shapes, colours. For over 30 years Pomellato’s creative director, Sergio Silvestris, infused all of the pieces created during his tenure with a powerful character, before his tragic and untimely death in 2014; that design tradition is continued by a dedicated team who anticipate trends and create collections which serve as benchmarks for the industry. One of Silvestris’ greatest contributions to the brand is his ingenious introduction of ‘Dodo’, tiny jewels made with a single gram of gold, perfect for the children of the brand’s already dedicated buyers. As of 2015, Dodo is a key part of the business which continues to grow rapidly, collections which have found a place in the hearts of buyers the world over. With 600 employees throughout the business - including the 100 dedicated goldsmiths at the company’s Milan headquarters - Pomellato has become a name known in the industry for a truly artisanal manufacturing process of its jewels.
