Clearly captivated by this sight, Van Cleef &Arpels unveils the portion of the Seven Seas collection inspired by the sea off the coast of the Italian peninsula. These pieces are inspired by sunny harbours and ancient cities, cooled by the sea breeze. The Adria ring is a remarkable piece of white gold, platinum and baguette-cut diamonds and sapphires - Paraíba-like tourmalines and crowned with a cushion cut emerald of 8.35 carats from Zambia. With atypical associations of shades and cuts, this creation renews the festive tradition of cocktail rings, which were symbolic of high fashion in the 1960s. All of this is illuminated by the luminous blue of the tourmalines and the corolla of sapphires which highlight and heighten the interplay around the cushion- cut emerald. The Adria ring will beguile the eye with the sheer quality of its crystallisation; its vibrant colours accentuated by the dense, limpid green with subtle notes of yellow, typical of its Zambian origin, and the impressive row of diamonds which make it shimmer like the Italian summer sun. Accompanying the Adria ring is the Lagune Précieuse necklace and earring set, a merging of white gold, baguette-cut and pear-shaped diamonds, with sapphires and aquamarines in both the necklace and the earrings. This is a hymn to the ocean blues of the sea that inspired it, with the aquamarines weighing, in total, more than 160 carats. The motifs created by the flawless blend of the various cuts from round, square and oval to octagonal and pear are linked by glittering volutes. Graphic, curved lines come together in a piece inspired by the lauded Collerette necklace, created by Van Cleef & Arpels in 1928, an integral part of the brand’s heritage. The stones almost caress the skin, evoking a watery world and the rhythm of the waves amidst the sparkling sea. Finally, the Adriatic Sea collection is the Ancône ring, featuring the popular baguette- cut diamonds with white gold, platinum, sapphires, turquoise beads and a single Colombian octagonal emerald of 3.28 carats. The ring is inspired by the landscapes surround the beautiful fortified Italian town of Ancona - the border of sapphires around the edge recalls the waves of the Adriatic mingling with the shallow waters of the harbour. Eight beads of turquoise form the rounded second level, with the crowning emerald sat proudly in the centre, the vivid green accentuated by the straight regularity of the octagonal cut.
