Simply Abu Dhabi Magazine XIX
1 7 0 S I M P LY A B U DH A B I Dean Caten explained their thinking process, that this collection is not muscledMounties and moose, but as if a suitcase of clothes and jewels fromOld Europe had fallen out of a plane over the icy tundra and been taken up by an Inuit tribe, who had incorporated the finery into their own tribal wardrobe. It is a unique concept, and the twins, to their credit, were dedicated to their pursuit of it. The skinny pants with the pannier pockets were received well by the audience, but the Catens have often appropriated the Ghesquière silhouette, suspended on the highest of heels. This time, however, the entire collection had a firm foundation of exhaustive research and elaborate, expensive detail - a huge step forward for these Canadian brothers. There will be no more obscuring themselves behind their usual kitsch after the reveal of this collection, and it is up to them to take advantage of it.
