Simply Abu Dhabi Magazine XIX
In terms of style and fits, there is a wide range on offer here. Beyond the relationship with family, it is a collection that honours the innocence and purity of childhood, represented here with items such shift dresses and separates in cute baby blue, decorated colourfully with prints of animals and drawings that could have come from the sketchbook of any young girl from around the world – a testament to the inclusivity of Dolce &Gabbana. There was some of the delicate lace so common in the women’s collection, but used sparingly, in tiny amounts, crowned with ruby and gold encrusted tiaras – these young girls truly became princesses for the day, a gift to them fromMr Dolce andMr Gabbana, who have for so long touted the importance of family. For the boys, there is a sense of the classic and the formal, from sharp tuxedo suits for even the youngest to exquisitely adorable shorts and braces, with matching suede brogues. There is this formality for both boys and girls, with collarless winter coats in rich emerald, with matching handbags that would not look out of place in the business districts of London or New York – but it is all reigned in with a heavy but deftly implemented childhood innocence that reminds us that as mature as they look and act, our children are just that.
