A big hit here were the eye-catching accessories for the more self-assured: oversized fur cossack and trapper hats, caps with lustrous gold thread air force-style embroideries, and fringe bags inspired by motorcycles seats. Boots, long and lean, with stamped embroideries, biker buckles or left clean, were narrowed at the ankle to fit under tapered pant legs. Recently, Dsquared2 collections have moved to conquer a wider audience and, thanks to their stylistic maturity, have become more chic and sophisticated while maintaining the sexy and provocative traits which are embedded in their creative roots. The Catens have never been ones to do things the easy way, with a statement from Dan before the show allaying any fears that this is the time to start. “We're born fighters,” he said. “If it's easy, it's not worth the fight.” And with this collection, there was a promise. “The last 20 years we built the foundation,” Dan said. “The next 20 years, we go kick some ass,” Dean finished. Whatever the future holds for the twins, and for the Dsquared2 brand as a whole, it is something the fashion world is not going to be able to ignore for long. And why would it want to?
