Today, with Massimiliano Giornetti at the helm, the women’s spring/summer 2016 collection continues to capture the essence of true elegance, celebrating lightness and femininity. Striped flounced dresses co-exist with austere capes fastened with a ribbon, while A- line skirts alternate with pleated slip dresses in a subtle play of balance, measure and harmony that borders on perfection. Frills and romance have been consistent themes across all the fashion capitals this season, and Giornetti uses delicate feathers, pretty ruffles and bows to tap into this newmood of femininity – be that on flowing dresses, wide capes, long tunic coats or elegant cotton trousers, gathered and tied at the heel. This is all paired with an elegantly austere palette – mostly monochrome, with lots of midnight blue and dashes of shocking pink, rust and fir green.
