2 1 4 S I M P LY A B U DH A B I Tod’s Spring/Summer 2016Menswear F or spring/summer 2016 Alessandra Facchinetti has delivered a stylish, practical and relaxed menswear range of Italian crafted jackets, shoes and bags, reflecting the house philosophy perfectly. It is a collection that takes inspiration from the world of art and the craft of the artisan, featuring hand- painted contrasting colour details – a look applied to the shoes, small leather goods and outerwear. Of course, Tod’s is most famous for its footwear, and for spring/summer 2016 there are a number of new developments. Chief among them is the arrival of a new signature detail for the house: the Leo Clamp. This embellishment is a metal detail created with a welding technique and is found on the iconic Tod’s Gommino shoe. Other styles of the house’s signature shoe feature colour-block painted areas, and woven leather uppers. One of the brand’s best known shoes, the Marlin – a deck shoe named after a boat owned by John F. Kennedy (and now in the possession of Diego Della Valle, President and CEO of Tod’s) – takes a more urban approach this season, incorporating a polished edge, which enriches its celebrated rubber sole.
