1 4 8 S I M P LY A B U DH A B I T he Pal Zileri model was elegant and relaxed this season, sauntering down the runway encased in fluid silk: their must-have fabric for spring/summer. The inspiration for the collection was the Italian abstract art movement of the 1940s, and this shone through with the abstract graphic prints that were peppered liberally throughout the collection and balanced inventively with a palette of vibrant colours and an array of contrasting textures. Silk was paired with leather and linen worn over super-soft cotton to create a liberal mismatch of elements intended to attract and hold your attention. The art of layering took centre stage as the designer experimented with contrasting volumes as well as contrasting textures. Suit jackets were either oversized or elongated, lapels were also exaggerated, and each piece was paired with a more fitted silhouette to the bottom. The indigo jeans with bonded leather cuffs were the standout piece here and could be worn by anyone, whilst the suede Bermuda shorts, shantung trousers and sport- inspired silk gym pants were aimed firmly at the fashion-conscious city slicker.
