1 6 9 S I M P LY A B U DH A B I H ermès has once again collaborated with the eminently gifted watchmaker Jean-Marc Wiederrecht to create the stunning and whimsical watch that is the of Slim d’Hermès L’heure impatiente – translating as The Impatient Hour. Watch lovers have come to expect something playful, irreverent and ultimately impressive from Jean- Marc Wiederrecht. Following on from the extremely popular Hermès Le Temps Suspendu – Time Suspended – watch, which concealed the time, this new timepiece is endowed with a complication that invites us to look forward to an upcoming moment. The ritual consists of setting the counter of the watch to the time of the eagerly awaited event which will take place in less than 12 hours. An hour before it occurs, the mechanical hourglass is set in motion and its progress can be followed at 6 o’clock on the dial. According to Hermès, “This complication that stirs our feelings and heightens our sense of pleasurable expectation is an exquisite torture that culminates when the note rings out. The striking mechanism has been designed to ensure a lasting, velvety-smooth sound that is also delightfully modulated for the wearer’s ears only. The playful and quirky Impatient Hour complication is based on this companionable rapport.” The case is in beautiful 18-carat rose gold and at the heart of this unique watch is the Manufacture Hermès H1912 movement – a compact calibre with all the high-end finishing to be expected of a top watch Maison: circular-graining and snailing on the mainplate and bridges, plus an oscillating weight which is satin-brushed and adorned with the signature H pattern. For Hermès, time is also an object. Explaining the brand’s approach to watchmaking, the Maison exclaims, “Rather than measuring, ordering and seeking to control it, Hermès dares to explore another time, designed to arouse emotions, open up interludes and create spaces for spontaneity and recreation.”
