SAD: The relationship between Fendi’s timepieces and fashion is very strong – and what about Fendi and Rome? DO: It’s a long-lasting relationship… in fact everything is made together by the team we have in Rome and in Switzerland, and we create timepieces that incorporate the Fendi DNA which is very important for us. SAD: Will Fendi create in the future grand complication watches or something much more technically complex? DO: We have no such plans at this moment. At Fendi we love to play with colours and design and our timepieces are all about this. We want to surprise our customers with our stylistically innovative ideas and concepts, and what we look forward is being able to create timepieces that can combine these two characteristics. It looks simple but it’s not. For example, for the IShine watch, you have to create your own mechanism for the watch. So, we love to create something impressively groundbreaking, as it is for our fashion. People love us for the spirit that the watches create and incarnate. SAD: What are some of the highlights of the 2017 novelties? DO: There are the new colours of the Selleria watch, one of our bestsellers, fromwhich you can remove your strap easily. This time we include straps that derive from the handbag straps we created two years ago for our bag collection. The strap is very Fendi because it’s fun and yet fashionable with the handmade flower or stud appliques. And in the Selleria family there are also the men’s watches. SAD: What are the developments in the men’s segment? DO: We also want to enhance Fendi’s core values in the men’s watches, so we added the masculine yet contemporary twist to our watches which include our Selleria in a 46mm automatic version. 1 7 7 S I M P LY A B U DH A B I
