A master at making coloured stones the focal point of his pieces, Picchiotti created the a cascade necklace of round cabochon rubies set in yellow gold and large baguettes set in platinum. Together they result in a one-of-a-kind, world-class design. This piece was honoured with the 1998 Annual Couture Design Award in the Coloured Gemstone Category for Picchiotti’s exceptional workmanship with rubies. Fourth there is the piece named after Giuseppe’s wife: the Marily Ring from the 2000s. Celebrating the 40th anniversary, Giuseppe conceived this most personal work of art. This exquisite ring bears the name of his wife and partner, a critical contributor to the success of the company. Inspired by the discovery of a cushion-cut fancy yellowish brown diamond weighing over 15 carats, the Marily features rare proportions with square diamonds in the outline re-cut one-by-one in a tapered fashion. Finally, in 2017, we have the wonderful L’Anfiteatro to mark the company’s 50th anniversary. Giuseppe wanted to create a jewel that captured the essence of Picchiotti style and craftsmanship. It had to be exuberant and exciting yet also elegant. Giuseppe took inspiration from a classical amphitheatre, depicting rows of seats overlooking the central stage. An exceptional ruby of 8.05 carats, bathed in diamond limelight, dazzles with extraordinary vivacity and intense colour. With a light, bright and clean crystal structure, the ruby is even more remarkable as it has been classified as entirely natural, with no heat treatment or colour enhancement – very rare for a ruby of this size.
