Simply Abu Dhabi XXVII
Atelier Versace This season Versace opted for an intimate and private press presentation at their studio on Avenue Montaigne. This was the choice made by Donatella Versace to present the new Atelier Versace, Versace's interpretation of haute couture, for autumn/winter 2017/18. The collection is a tribute to Versace trademarks: bold and strong femininity mixed with intricate and modern fabrics and technologies. Everything is hand-sewn and hand- embroidered – the craftwork embodied in the items and the sheer hours of work are extraordinary. Feathers, Swarovski applications, constructed dresses and intricate embroideries are, as it has always been for Atelier Versace, the protagonists of the collection that looks into a new futuristic era. It presents some stunning cocktail attire and eveningwear, while sumptuously bold jumpsuits, strong- shouldered mini-dresses, sculptured and voluminous coats and ball gowns all make an impression in the unmistakable Versace way. The collection is assertively modern; for example, we have a rock-inspired mini-dress featuring gold antique rings woven together with bands of tulle, a lace evening gown entirely held together by a 3D-printed necklace, and an oversized coat with voluminous sleeves featuring a patchwork of Australian long-haired fox. Alongside the haute couture collection, Donatella presented several pieces from the Versace High Jewellery collection, which included the diamond Mosaic bracelet that recalls a mosaic pattern in Palazzo Versace, and the coloured Davi ring in rose gold, featuring a unique amethyst with Versace's symbol: the mythological Medusa. 1 1 3 S I M P LY A B U DH A B I
