A long the Caribbean Sea, and perched high above the verdant green calabash and palm trees of Saint Lucia, will be a tropical nirvana. It will be a place of unparalleled, heavenly refuge and bliss. The Diya — whose name is derived from the oil lamp that is lit on special occasions within the island nation and initiated by the client, Navita — is the joint effort of New Zealand structural engineer Warrick Weber; Rayneau Gajadhar, head of the construction entity RG Group of Companies; and of course, world-class and award-winning designer Flora Di Menna of Flora Di Menna Designs. The Diya is a collaborative effort that personifies precision and perfection. The building’s structure on the top level — which will be shaped like a flame and resemble the Saint Lucian people’s unwavering passion and friendly disposition — will be lined with tall, dynamic glass, allowing the ultimate 360-degree view of the guest house, the mass foliage and greenery, and the crystal-blue sea. The exterior windows will be light sensitive, providing the ideal amount of shade at various times of day depending on the sun. The Diya will be strategically located to provide natural ventilation, by way of ceiling spaces and winds that come from the east. At the apex of The Diya building, instead of being lit by a flame (as its name would suggest), it will be met by Rayneau Gajadhar, head of the RG Group of Companies, has been involved in the construction, development and design industries for the past 22 years. Boasting a sta of 450 employees, Gajadhar has become the go-to guy for development projects throughout the Caribbean.
