B eing voted the best airport in the Middle East by Airports Council International, and Most Improved Airport in the Middle East, marks the start of an exciting time for Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH). With the buzz around the construction of its iconic new Midfield Terminal Building growing, the airport is entering a period of expansion, innovation and excitement about the future. The much coveted Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards were handed to Acting Chief Operations Officer Ahmed Al Shamisi in a ceremony on the idyllic island of Mauritius in October, attended by the great and good of the global aviation industry, and firmly marking Abu Dhabi International Airport as one to watch. The ASQ is the world-renowned and globally established benchmarking program measuring passengers’ satisfaction while traveling through an airport. The awards, recognize airports around the globe that demonstrate a commitment to providing an excellent customer experience and they are given on the basis of passenger surveys that are supervised by Airports Council International. Travelers give their views on a group of services offered to them, as well as rating their satisfaction with these services provided by the airport. The areas reviewed include airport access, check- in, security screening, stores, and restaurants, amongst other services. Awards are presented to those airports whose customers have rated them the highest over the course of the year.
