DeBeers Lotus by DeBeers takes this beautiful flower, with history and symbolism stretching back for millennia, as a spiritual inspiration for a breathtaking new line. The collection is divided into five segments that define the life of this flower: awakening, blooming, flourishing, radiating and soothing. The pieces combine rough and polished diamonds, white and coloured diamonds, and pear-shaped, baguette, marquise, round and princess cuts. “Eachmoment of transformation, unfurling petal and evocative scene is brought to life through our unique diamond expertise and technical excellence. An artful blend of rough and polished diamonds in an array of shapes and cuts creates beautiful compositions,” explained François Delage, CEO of DeBeers. Awakening tells the story of the birth of the lotus, beginning when its petals emerge above the water line. It has been depicted by the jeweller with an incredible necklace in which a magnificent 18.79- carat rough bluish-greenmacle diamond explains the nativity of the flower. After the lotus has emerged from the water, the flower blooms and in the Blooming Lotus Necklace we see three exceptional pear-shaped diamond petals, supported by a pear, marquise and baguette-cut diamond silhouette. When the lotus flower reaches its perfection and each petal is fully open, its magnificence is flawless. The Flourishing Lotus earrings capture this moment with symmetric (one for each earring) 3.13-carat round brilliant solitaire diamonds surrounded by DeBeers’s signature micropavé. Radiating Lotus celebrates the mysterious enigmatic power of the lotus flower with petal-shapedmarquise diamonds, rows of round brilliant diamond peaks and kite-shaped cascades of princess-cut and round brilliant-cut diamonds. Finally, the end of the iconic flower’s life span can be seen with the Soothing Lotus set, where rough and polished diamonds are artfully arranged in a harmonious balance of colour, shapes and textures. 6 9 S I M P LY A B U DH A B I GIAMPIERO BODINO Giampiero Bodino’s haute joallerie presentation has undoubtedly become one of the not to be missed appointments during the busy Haute Couture week in Paris. For this season, Bodino was motivated by the Mediterranean Sea, creating 19 unique high jewellery pieces inspired by the colours, scents, architecture and spirit of the Med. Whilst the previous season the Italian jeweller presented secret watches, this time the main focus was parures: statement necklaces and matching bracelets and earrings. The colours of the collection are vibrant, the stones are unique and have a density and purity of tone that is astonishing. For example, a necklace is matched with a bracelet set and sapphire beads as blue as the depths of the ocean, and is studded with fleur de lys motifs and diamond stars like the crest of a wave. The bracelet is paved with seashells in a lightweight titanium setting with contrasting multi-coloured precious stones. Other standout pieces include marine motifs such as the seahorse encrusted with precious stones and transformed into a brooch – a desirable highlight of the collection. On the architectural side is an incredible one-of-a-kind necklace that dazzles in its beauty, featuring sapphires, orange coloured stones and diamonds, unmistakably recalling the baroque spirit of Sicilian churches such as those found in Noto or in Palermo.
