BERLUTI Berluti has a new designer: Haider Ackermann. The autumn/winter 2017/2018 collection by the men’s French fashion house, which is part of LVMH, was the first created by the Colombian designer. Known for his luxurious and androgynous fashion, clean lines and precise silhouettes with a punk vibe, Ackermann had a big task in taking over Berluti’s creative helm. Replacing Alessandro Sartori – now at Ermenegildo Zegna – who has imprinted Berluti’s aesthetic with a luxurious and technical savoir faire, Ackermann took over the Maison with the idea of a fashion line that could develop over time. The ensemble of the collection was a stylistic exercise in luxury, in which a soft camel coat, a black leather aviator jacket, a cashmere sweater or a velvet tuxedo were seen as a gentlemen’s modern wardrobe essentials. And a small capsule of female pieces was presented in the show, which marked a new era for the brand. Berluti customers know the brand well and expect the very best. They want to feel comfortable and wear suits, sweaters or jackets that are as soft as a second skin – but they also want to be cool and original, not stuck in a dated and unimaginative classic wardrobe. The new colour palette, which includes blue, pink, burgundy, beige, black and green, is something of a vibrant statement of contemporary luxury in which the details make all the difference. For the accessories, lace-up boots in a deep emerald green are an exquisite statement, with high quality casual bags the perfect companion.
