With a considered use of colour and transparency now recognised as being the design calling card of RCR Arquitectes, these elements are manifested in Muraba Residences via “precision and continuity”, he says, while a connection to the notable location itself – the Palm Jumeriah – is achieved by “facing the sea and blowing up boundaries”. “Working with Muraba was our first venture in the Middle East and with such a landscape,” he continues. “It was clear the sea would be integral to the design. Upon seeing in real life the area we had as our blank canvas, it become apparent what we wanted to achieve, and how we would do this. The perfect blue sea would be framed in each living space, bringing to life the apartments and presenting a holistic lifestyle experience.” All materials within the design have been locally sourced, from the glass and precast concrete panels to the use of travertine stone. Modern in its appeal, yet warm in its execution, the allure of the apartments lies in their “rough luxury”, says Rafael, describing them as “a contemporary space where you feel luxury which doesn’t show in an obvious manner”. Working from a brief that required them to build apartments where its purity finds a newway of communication about Dubai, quality is a theme that runs throughout the development. It boasts world-class facilities, including a swimming pool stretching the length of the building, the latest in gym equipment, men’s and ladies’ indoor vitality pools, crystal steam rooms and experience showers, not to mention 24-hour security and concierge services. Fixtures and fittings are second to none and all are provided by global leaders within their respective fields.
