9 7 S I M P LY A B U DH A B I U ndoubtedly one of the world’s finest watchmakers, Jaeger- LeCoultre were an incredibly popular presence at Dubai Watch Week. It’s fair to say that wherever in the world the brand exhibits, it is unfailingly appealing to anyone with even the slightest knowledge and appreciation of high watchmaking. Jaeger-LeCoultre displayed a stunning collection of high-end complications from the Reverso, Master, Rendez-Vous, Duomètre, Geophysic and Atmos collections. The Master Grand Tourbillon, Master Grande Tradition Grande Complication and the Duomètre Sphérotourbillon Bleu drew particular attention and widened plenty of eyes. The new Rendez-Vous line of ladies’ watches also had a place to shine at DWW. The most accomplished and extraordinary collections are the Hybris Mechanica and Hybris Artistica, which both strive for ultimate perfection. The Hybris Mechanica collection was unveiled in 2003 with the Atmos Mystérieuse clock and its constant force mechanism, and a succession of unquestionable masterpieces followed ever since. Amongst other innovations, Hybris Mechanica give pride of place to the mechanical measurement of time, the mathematical approach to eternity, and the musical indication of the hours. Unveiled at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie in 2014, the first pieces in the Hybris Artistica collection were a bold expression of the winning combination of the Grande Maison’s many talents in the form of its Métiers Rares rare handcrafts. True to its past of continuous invention, for the very first time Jaeger-LeCoultre combined ancestral techniques – such as guilloché work, enamelling, and engraving – with ingenious mechanical movements featuring particularly sophisticated complications. For Jaeger-LeCoultre, 2017 is an opportunity to reveal watchmaking treasures of stunning beauty from four of its iconic collections: Rendez-Vous, Reverso, Geophysic and Hybris Artistica. After 2016 marked the 85th anniversary of the iconic Reverso, Jaeger- LeCoultre chose Dubai Watch Week to present the Reverso Tribute Gyrotourbillon. Marc de Panafieu, Brand Director, says, “Once again, Jaeger- LeCoultre is delighted to be part of the innovative Dubai Watch Week that works so diligently in supporting the luxury watch segment. This year, as a nod to the event’s role in promoting the intricacies of fine watchmaking, the Jaeger-LeCoultre exhibition, showcased some of our most thrilling and complex pieces. These included our Gyrotourbillons, diamond paved tourbillons, the perpetual calendar, and samples of our haute joaillerie. Notable among themwere our iconic Reverso Tribute Gyrotourbillon, shown in the Middle East for the first time.” The Reverso Tribute Gyrotourbillon is a Grande Complication model paying tribute to the iconic watch first developed in 1931. It is a masterpiece of watchmaking skill and a vivid representation of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s legendary horological sophistication, revealed on both faces. The platinummodel was a limited issue series of just 75 pieces. This fascinatingly technical timepiece epitomises the watchmaking genius of the Grande Maison’s gifted artisans.
