It is based on the true story of Billy Beane (Brad Pitt), general manager of the Oakland Athletics, and his attempt to create a competitive team despite Oakland’s unfavourable financial situation. The story focuses around Billy Beane and his arrival as Oakland’s general manager. Through analysis and a new, non-traditional sabermetric approach to scouting players, Beane is forced to reinvent his team on a tight budget, Beane will have to outsmart the richer clubs. The onetime jock teams with Ivy League grad Peter Brand ( Jonah Hill) in an unlikely partnership, recruiting bargain players that the scouts call flawed, but all of whom have an ability to get on base, score runs, and win games. It’s more than baseball, it’s a revolution! The film, based on the 2003 book of the same name written by Michael Lewis, is set for release in September 2011.
